First-time Freshmen are students who have graduated from high school or completed a GED but have not attempted any college hours since. This does NOT include dual credit or AP classes. They are pursuing one of our 40+ majors and programs.

Schreiner University bases admission decisions on holistic applications, including GPA and extra-curricular involvement during high school. SAT or ACT scores, essays, letters of recommendation, and resumes are optional and may be requested by the Admission Committee.
For First-time Freshmen, admission criteria will include:
Students who do not meet the minimum GPA requirement may be asked for additional documents to be reviewed by the admission committee for an admission decision. Students will be notified if additional documents are requested and have one month to submit those additional documents.

Your admission counselor will reach out to you via phone, email, and mail to let you know if the admission committee has requested additional information. You can also view all requested information on your applicant dashboard by logging back into the online application.
At Schreiner, we look at students holistically and consider students more than just a number. We do take standardized test scores into account, but for first-time freshmen we will do a qualitative evaluation of your application to assess your involvement in high school and in your community to determine your fit at Schreiner and for scholarship considerations.
First-time freshmen who do not meet the admission requirements stated above, additional documentation (such as resume, essay, short answer questions) may be requested to be sent with the student’s application to the Admission Committee for a decision. At Schreiner, we look at students holistically and will take high school and community involvement and student efforts into account when making an admission decision.
