Effective from April 2025, duplicate reissuance of JLPT Certificate of Result and Scores will no longer be free of charge. Further details of the terms and conditions including fees and method of payment will be available in December 2024.

About The JLPT

The Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) is the largest-scale Japanese language test in the world. Since 1984, The Japan Foundation and Japan Educational Exchanges and Services have continued to offer the JLPT as a reliable means of evaluating the Japanese proficiency of non-native speakers. The JLPT is widely recognised across corporate and government sectors as a benchmark for proficiency measurement, and is also a strong motivator for students of Japanese language.

From and including July 2024, the Brisbane test site will be at Griffith University, Gold Coast campus (NOT Nathan campus as previously).

• Held worldwide on the first Sunday of July and first Sunday in December of each year, but not at all locations.

• July Test application period announced around early February with application anticipated to start in March.
• December Test application period announced around mid July with application anticipated to start mid or late August.
• Application for the JLPT in Australia is entirely online via a ticketing website (Eventbrite). Registration links become available from this page when the time approaches.

Capacity for some cities and some levels may become booked out very quickly on the application opening day. For news on precise application periods, please check this website daily from late January and daily from early July. No emailing list is in use and potential applicants will need to monitor news for themselves.

• Application period: August 28 (Wed) 9am AEST – September 9 (Mon) 5pm AEST or until capacity is reached, whichever occurs first.

• Test Vouchers will be sent to examinees by EMAIL approximately 1 month before the Test.

• Test Vouchers will be sent to examinees by EMAIL approximately 1 month before the Test. Please wait until November 8 (Fri) before contacting jlpt_sy(at)jpf.go.jp regarding missing Vouchers.

• Test Vouchers were EMAILED on June 11-13th. If you have many different email accounts, try to remember which one you supplied in your JLPT application. Try accessing your email provider’s webmail from a desktop or laptop browser (instead of using a phone app or email client). CHECK SPAM AND JUNK FOLDERS.

Capacity:

This is not a live count of remaining places, it is the total amount of places available. The capacity on offer is the current maximum that can be accommodated and will not be increased.

There is currently a problem with displaying the address of each test location within Eventbrite.

• Adelaide: University of South Australia, City West campus. 1pm ACDT.
• Gold Coast (formerly Brisbane): Griffith University, Gold Coast campus, Southport. 12:30pm AEST.
• Melbourne: Monash University, Clayton campus, Woodside Building. 12:50pm AEDT.
• Perth: Perth Modern School, 90 Roberts Road, Subiaco. 10:30am AWST.
• Sydney: The University of New South Wales, Kensington campus. 1:20pm AEDT.

Specific assembly time and location details will be included in the Test Voucher email as usual.

Test duration varies per Test Level and due to breaks. See main body of the Test Guide for more information.
