Nursing (AAS)

The Department of Nursing offers a fast-paced, full-time Associate in Applied Science (AAS), RN Program, designed for graduates to go directly into the labor market. Upon completion of the program, students may apply for RN Licensure through a state board to complete their NCLEX exam.

Nursing Program Options

Associate Degree Nursing (RN) – Upon successful completion of the ADN program, the student is awarded an Associate in Applied Science Degree.

Practical Nursing (PN) – Upon successful completion of the PN program or after completion of the third semester of the ADN program, the student is awarded a certificate in Practical Nursing.

Career Mobility Nursing (LPN/Paramedic to RN) - Upon successful completion of a PN or Paramedic Program and secured unencumbered licensure, the student may apply for the Career Mobility program. After successful completion of the NUR209 and above curriculum, the student is awarded an Associate in Applied Science Degree.

Transfer LPN to RN Nursing (ACCS PN to RN) - Upon successful completion of a Alabama Community College System (ACCS) PN Program and secured unencumbered licensure within the 12-month transfer window; the student may apply for the LPN to RN Transfer program. After successful completion of the program curriculum, the student is awarded an Associate in Applied Science Degree.

Licensure and NCLEX – Upon successful completion of the program of studies in either the Associate Degree or Practical Nursing Programs, the graduate may be eligible to write the National Council Licensure Examination, upon approval by a state board of nursing.


Nursing Program Admissions Cycles

~FALL SEMESTER: Application is open March 15 - May 15 until 11:59pm.

~SPRING SEMESTER: Application is open September 15 - October 31 until 11:59pm.

Minimum Admissions Requirements

Please refer to the Minimum Admissions Requirement document. The ACT is now required for all nursing program admissions. There is no expiration date on the ACT. The TEAS test is no longer accepted. Due to the fast-paced structure of the program, it is recommended that applicants take most of their General Education core courses prior to beginning the nursing coursework.

~SPRING SEMESTER: December 15 at 11:59pm
~SUMMER SEMESTER: May 8 at 11:59pm
